Week 6

Scotty  -

Math:  I did math with blocks, and I'm learning which color blocks are which number.  It will probably be fun.

Language Arts:  I learned about suffixes.  They change a word.  Like great, then it's greater and greatest.  Also, I broke words up.  Like rainbow, then it is two words, rain and bow.

Tech: I made a satellite and it turned and drove in a circle.  It was fun!  This is my favorite class!

Science:  We learned about what would it be like to live on the moon?  It would be crazy, because you would be jumping everywhere, and because you would trip a lot, because someone did that.  Because there is not a lot of gravity.

Karate:  We had a fight with pretend swords, with some people.  I knew that I would lose because I was challenging a purple belt.  My friend Jeffrey got his purple belt.

Beth - 

Math:  I am learning to count from 0 to 9.  I used blocks in math and it is fun!  I counted a lot of green blocks.

Language Arts: I read a super long story.  It was about a cat that was running in mud, and a person was really mad.  I read a super long word today.  There were 6 letters.  The word was little.

Dance:  I had a different teacher this week.  I am getting really good at my somersaults.  They were hard, but now they are not as hard!

  

Week 5

Scotty  -

This week we went on a trip to Idaho to visit my grandma Johnston.  It was super fun!  I love my grandma.

Math: There was a lot of times we had to use math this week.  We used it when we cooked pancakes with grandma.  There is a lot of fractions.  I didn't know I would use fractions so much if I want to be a chef.

Language Arts: There are four of sentences.  Statement, questions, exclamations and commands.  I did two worksheets that helped me practice that.

I'm also writing a book about a boy named Scotty who met an alien named Zurg.  I'm on chapter 2!  I am trying to figure out what happens next!

Tech: I programmed my Lego Wedo to make the fan I built spin.  I didn't just do what the program told me to do.  I also made it go faster and slower!  

Science:  When we were in Idaho, we went lots of places.  We went to a science museum all about how the horses changed everything for people.  Especially the Native American Indians.  Also my mom cut her finger, and we got to see blood and how her body fixes it and made a real life band aid.  It's called a scab.

Karate: I got my third stripe in karate.  My sparring stripe!  I will get to test for your yellow belt next time there is a test!

Beth - 

This week we went to see grandma Johnston in Idaho.  It was a fun trip, but I kind of got a little scary dreams.  

Math:  We made pancakes with grandma and she had me add up how many cups we would need of the flour.  1 cup plus 1 cup is 2 cups.   

Language Arts: We learned a new sound in my reading.  We learned the lllllll sound.  My mom's name is Leah, and it is the same sound at the beginning.  

Dance:  We are learning a Halloween dance. And also, I did scarf dancing!  I like it.

Week 4

Scotty  -

Math: I looked at clocks and told the time.  I measured which jug has most, least, and half way.  I wrote down the days of the week.

Language Arts: I practiced past tense and present tense.  Also what a verb is, it's an action word.

Tech: I programmed my Lego Wedo to make a Lego snail glow any color I want. I did every color actually.  I liked it a lot.  I have wanted to do so much of Lego Wedo. It was hard to stop.

Science:  Today we read the book Why Do Builders Need So Many Big Machines?  That was the Mystery!  The answer is so they can build AMAZING things.  Each machine has a different job.  One would PUSH PULL LIFT DUMP.  All different things!

Karate: I practiced sparring with a boy in my class.  It was ok.  I almost got hit in the face again....

Beth - 

Math:  So I wrote the square and I made the squares the right colors.  A picture, a jack in the box, and the clock, and the present.  Then I circled triangles, and I made a triangle and I found all the triangles in the picture.

Language Arts: We learned the u sound.  Like in under.  Then I read a story about an ant that was fat. It just sat and would eat.  I read another story about a lady at the beach with a sock on her foot.  She put it inside the water.

Dance:  I learned a new kind of move.  My new move is my spin with my foot up!

Week 1-3

Scotty-

Math:

Mom made me do some stuff I've already done, to see what I remember.  It was kind of boring, but then I remembered all of it and won!

Language Arts:

Mom made me do stuff I already did again.  I didn't know as much as I knew of math.  But I knew a lot.


Science:

We watched some science show.  What was it called?  Planet Earth.  We are deciding the thing I want to study the most.


Tech:

I opened up and organized my Lego Wedo.  It is going to be amazing!


Karate:

My first week I made so many friends.  I love karate so much!

Beth-

Math:

Mom wanted to see what I knew.  She is so proud of me!

Language Arts:

Mom saw what I know again.  I know so many of the letters!

Dance:

I was kind of scared and happy to go to dance.  I met some new girls.  They are so pretty and we twirled and twirled!
