Science: We learned about why does the moon turn blood red during a lunar eclipse.  It happens because of the atmosphere.  It goes in the shadow of the earth.  And turns red because of all the sunsets and sunrises.  It would be like a big thing around.

Scotty-

Math:  In math I did estimating.  I hated it.  It is really hard for me not to write the right answer and just guess.

Week 18-20

Scotty-

Math: We learned about New Year's and the ball dropping in Time Square.  But it isn't the same here and all over the world!  So mom told us about the time changing when you move around the world.  Hawaii is different then here and Japan is different.  So we figured out the time where my family lives.

Language Arts: I read so many things this time because I got NEW POKEMON BOOKS!  Christmas got me new books and I am so excited about it!

Science: I learned about what is the coldest place on earth and it is the South Pole.  We learned about where bugs go in the winter.  Some die and their eggs keep living, and some kind of hibernate. Animals do it too, like frogs.  The frog didn't go very far under the mud, and it froze, and it had special blood that keeps it from dying.

Tech:  I built a race car out of Lego's and it went really fast.  When you move your hand in the front, there is a little sensor that makes it drive forward.

Karate: We were doing jumping front kicks and we tried to hit a pad and at first it was as high as our neck, Ryder came in first and I don't know where I came in.

Beth-

Math: It was New Year's, and did you know that it is different times at different places in the earth?  We figured out what time was the start over time in Hawaii and in Japan, (my uncle lives there!)  my brain thought that was crazy!

Tech: I built it was called drive, it was a little machine that drives forward, it wouldn't stay up, so I added the little things on the front that are like hands to help hold it up.  Then I added eyes just for fun.

Karate:  I couldn't go to karate because I was so sick.  So I practiced at home.  I want to get my next belt!

Beth-

Scotty-

Math: I learned to skip by fives.  I also learned about money.  The nickel is worth 5.  Mom told me a story where someone stole her money, because they tricked her by saying nickels are worth more than dimes because they are bigger.  So dimes are worth 10 cents and they tricked her. I need to know my money so no one can trick me.

Language Arts:  I learned about Homophones.  They are words that sound the same but mean different things.  Like eight and ate and to and two.  I also am learning my spelling again with the teapot poem.

Science: We asked the question, "Why is Mars red?"  The answer is because there is lots of Iron in the ground and it rusts from water.  They think there was water on Mars a long time ago.  We also watched a bonus about, robots.  My two favorites were one Spot Mini and robot arms that could make you dinner.  Spot Mini is like a dog and it was giving a guy his drink and doing the dishes and opening a door.

Tech:  I built a dolphin in tech and I made it swim.  It didn't have building instructions, so I had to figure it out with pictures.

Karate:  Karate was really hard this week.  I had to keep doing things over and over that I didn't know.

Beth-

Math: This week I learned about the units and the tens house.  They live on decimal street.  The tens live in a blue house and the units live in a green house.

Language Arts:  I read a story about kids running into a shack.  And also I learned a new word and it says A. And also that new word "said".

Dance: We just keep learning the Christmas dance. It is fun to dance with the star wand though!
